Notwithstanding Rush Limbaugh's latest descent into vileness, and the resultant angry uproar [not limited by any means to just liberals and the left], it's doubtful that "his days with the remuda, they are gone" [from a good old genuine cowboy song, "Little Joe the Wrangler."]

Frankly, I can't think of anything he has said, in his uniquely crude fashion, even the very, very few things with which I've been inclined to agree -- including his attacks on gun control -- that struck a whit of emotional resonance with me. One of his cruelest moments came in 2008 with his physical and verbal mimicking of Michael J. Fox, badly afflicted with Parkinson's. That savagery was not only an attack on Fox -- but on all persons so afflicted.

This latest has made him even more anathema to those of any human sensitivity and it's likely that he's been pushed more toward the margins than ever before.

But, sadly, I think he'll be part of the deep swampy scenery for a long time to come. There are always those who appreciate his rank style. I rather suspect, however, that there may well be physical anthropologists who would appreciate him for other reasons.
