From RBB:

I think virtually everyone on RBB is, commendably, against the death penalty. The defense forces for the 19 year old have, obviously, a challenging job ahead -- but, apparently, the lead public defender so assigned is a high caliber lawyer who also speaks Russian. Might be worth consulting the Loeb/Leopold case.

The U.S. media coverage of the Boston situation has been exhaustive -- often to the point of freezing out almost all other Earthly matters. Fox has, to some extent, returned to its normal news purview. But CNN still continues unabated, its reporters stern faced, grim. Wolf Blitzer, who generally seems a rather mellow guy, comes off like a burning-eyes cross between Hanging Judge Jeffreys and Titus Oates.

CNN reported that many in Boston want drone coverage for what's beginning to seem like a rabbit warren.

Lots of vitriol from the central Atlantic gun grabbers being heaped upon good U.S. Senator Heidi Heitcamp of North Dakota, one of the few Democrats who voted to kill the gun control stuff. From Obama and Biden and Bloomberg on down, the anti-gun forces had a colossal loss on that one -- and they're, true to form, poor losers. The saga has left the NRA with a million new members and most gun owners thoroughly aroused -- and the national Democratic Party once again as the Gun Control outfit -- a label that won't help it or most of its components in 2014 and 2016 and beyond.

Back to Heidi: Both Eldri and I have old frontier roots in North Dakota and know the state very well. Heidi voted pro-gun as the home folks wished. Her position is secure. She comes directly out of the old Non-Partisan League and Farmer/Labor traditions and, when we lived in North Dakota, Eldri and I always supported her in her various political efforts. She's sensibly tough, not enthralled obviously by Obama, and certainly not by the Central Atlantic honchos who feel the entire country should fit their narrow and often bigoted mode.

See the new expanded/updated edition of my "ORGANIZER'S
BOOK." It's the inside story of the rise of the massive Jackson
Movement -- careful grassroots organizing, bloody repression, sell-out
and more. It also covers other organizing campaigns of mine through
the decades since Mississippi. It's replete with grass-roots organizing
examples and "lessons." And it has my new 10,000 word
introduction. Among a myriad of positive comments and reviews:
". . .a local activist's important account of the deleterious effects
the involvement of national organizations can have on indigenous
protest movements." (Historian David Garrow.)
