This from the conservative Telegraph (a.k.a. “Torygraph”) in the UK: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10960586/FBI-spied-on-Nelson-Mandela.html   among other sources. I haven’t seen much about it in the US media yet.
Of course they kept an eye on him, it would be naive to assume otherwise of secret police organizations and their equivalent in any country. Some  squirming now because of the embarrasing PR effect – as if the real players ever cared.

Off to England tomorrow for a brief holiday.  Staying with friends  at Royal Leamington Spa some 20 miles from Birmingham – middle-class retiree enclave but with some charm. The spa closed ages ago, but there are plenty of other establishments for taking the waters. Hope to watch the football world cup finals on Sunday  in a pub. Interesting to see whether the locals will support Germany against Argentina or vice-versa. My money’s on the Germans.
