Subject: "UNVEIL" SURVEY REVEALS A LIFE INTERRUPTED BY LUPUS
September 16, 2014
.NEW SURVEY UNVEILS A LIFE INTERRUPTED BY LUPUS
Results from a new, groundbreaking survey, UNVEIL: Understanding the Impact of Lupus, shed light on the burden of lupus and the challenges not only for those living with the disease, but also lupus caregivers. The survey, which was conducted by the Lupus Foundation of America in partnership with Eli Lilly & Company, highlights the devastating impact lupus has on all aspects of life including family, work, finances, treatment experiences and overall quality of life.
The survey involved more than 1,000 people with lupus and lupus caregivers.
What's particularly interesting with this survey is that for the first time, we looked at the impact of lupus on caregivers specifically. The UNVEIL survey finds that many caregivers face challenges similar to those of people who have the disease, especially due to the unpredictable nature of lupus. Survey findings show that for caregivers-like those with lupus-the disease significantly impacts mental health, daily living and work life. You can find highlights of the survey findings here.
Initiatives like UNVEIL help ensure we provide programs and services to meet the needs of those impacted by the disease, such as our new caregiving toolkit-Caregiving: What You Need to Know.
Whether someone is living with lupus or caring for someone with the disease, the Lupus Foundation of America offers a variety of research efforts and education and support services to help manage the disease and minimize its brutal impact.
