My conclusion, based on considering the development of the productive forces in the realm of digital information -- is that the "breakthrough" will be accelerated by the development of an independent public information platform--with algorithms that are controlled by the users themselves.

Such a platform would become a gathering place for activists from different trends to work in proximity to one another and collaborate on common projects. Such a platform would enable transparency--which would go a long ways in puncturing cultish illusions. Such a platform would also cut through reformist illusions.

The organizations which lead the working class will be based not on "democratic centralism", but rather on "democratic communication": public information which encourages self-organization and challenges incompetence, hypocrisy, opportunism, etc.

Such a platform would not be a substitute for activists working on various struggles--but it would reduce a considerable amount of the friction that slows down development.

It is a reasonable guess that activists (such as me, and most here) who became active in the 1960's or 1970's will not create this platform. Rather--a newer generation of activists--who better appreciate the potential of digital communications to assist the subjective factor--will create this.
