uld discuss at greater length our differences and determine more precisely =
whether they are nuances or represent two quite different views of how to f=
ight the Trump administration. My impression is that they wouldn't much aff=
ect practice, except insofar as you might rally opposition against Trump's =
personal corruption while I would focus on the threat his administration po=
sed to the historic hard-won democratic rights and social gains of the US's=
 diverse working class.

As to Bonapartism as precursor to fascism, you draw a sharp contrast betwee=
n Louis Napoleon's repressive measures and Nazi Germany.=C2=A0 I agree the =
Nazis were a particularly vicious form of race-based fascism which should b=
e distinguished from his regime. A more exact parallel would be the "milder=
" outright fascist or conservative authoritarian regimes of Mussolini, Fran=
co Salazar, Horthy etc. where the dictator had powers Trump *can only dream=
 of* - among other things, abolition of legislative and judicial oversight =
and the rotating two party governing system; banning of independent trade u=
nions, political parties, and media; imprisonment, exile, or worse of Commu=
nist and other left-wing militants; and subordination of the bourgeoisie to=
 the dictates of state policy rather than market forces.

Wouldn't you agree that others now have a pretty good idea of where each of=
 us stands?
