This discussion has prompted me to re-read the theses on the United Front from the 1922 Comintern Congress: https://www.marxists.org/history/international/comintern/4th-congress/united-front.htm The Congress proposed that the Communist parties seek a united front with the reformists to their right and anarchists and syndicalists to their left without any insistence of unity around a single demand or set of demands. The Bolsheviks and their allied parties in the Comintern understood that would not be possible. The central task was to bring these forces together in common action. In Germany, France, Italy, the UK, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, the US, Swtizerland and “in a number of other countries the question presents itself differently, in accordance with a whole series of different local conditions", the Theses stated.
