i cannot believe i am reading this from a marxist group. the main reason i havent left this listserv is to see what kind of wild and unique discussions happen here, many of which never ever happen in the real life organizing spaces i am a part of. i was invited here to tell the story of the umass gaza solidarity encampment, and 2 years later this is the debate! i dont understand how so much class essentialism and also now race/religious essentialism is happening here in a so-called marxism group. Two thousand years of a particular tradition, developing and changing into what it is today, which is more secular. It’s a Judeo-Christian secularism, which would be distinct from a Hindu secularism, for example.
