I want to thank Michael for posting this. It has educated me on the important aspect of the relationship of forces between the alliance's 3 members. It is a strange alliance given Turkey's support for Hamas in a political way: political, defensive support to Lebanon more than anything else, I've never heard of Turkey supply a single thing to the Gazans now under attack by Israel.

Israel itself has enjoyed collaboration in the past with Turkey so Turkey's "opposition" Israel doesn't stem from any sort of "Islamic solidarity" (my words, not Michael's) but through way Turkey has always operated: what is in the interest of the Turkish state. For example, The Iran/Turkish border is the largest porous border for breaking Western sanctions on Iran, with almost open Turkish state support. Turkey was the only nation breaking oil sanctions on Saddam Hussein's Iraq during the U.S. imposed sanctions during the 90s and early 2000s.

Turkey's own regional ambitions, as defined by Erdoğan decades long rule is to build "Turkish hegemony" among the region's Turkish "peoples": Turks, Azerbaijanis (which received the bulk of their military aid from the Turkish state to defeat Russian supported Armenia), Turkman, and other "Turkish" minorities in the region. This actually does include Iran's Turkish minorities (several different Turk ethnicities) despite the "good relations" between Iran and Turkey. This "hegemony" hasn't really gone anywhere and is relatively low-key.

The problem for Israel is that Turkey is a member of NATO and has been since 1952. And, it is at least as powerful as Israel on the ground and, perhaps, in the air. So, at the very least, Turkey is paid attention to albeit conflict, at least initiated by Israel, is near impossible.

Israel has had relations with Kurds primarily in Iraq for decades and built a strong intelligence/military network with them. To correct one thing. It is not "Mossad" that carries out this work by themselves, the real group is AMAN, the Hebrew initials for the "Military Intelligence Directorate" which actually does the training and work there aimed at Iran and, not incidentally, away from Turkey.
