John, Tony, et al, might it be that your expectations are unrealistic? The DSA is not a democratic centralist organization, and even democratic centralist organizations, despite the theory, do not have a steller historical record of  membership control over the central leadership. As in unions and very likely any organization, disgruntled factions invariably reproduce the anti-democratic impulses of the leaders they replace.

Perhaps under socialism, if and when there is no longer a scramble for wealth, status, and power, these deformations will disappear. Meanwhile don't read my comment as meaning there is no need to keep educating the membership about how a democratic organization should function, as I also tried to do - admittedly not always or even mostly without frustration since even agreement doesn't generally translate to committment.
