The PRC was not "forced" to reverse to capitalism. There was a struggle between two paths – socialism toward communism versus embrace of capitalism – from 1949 on. The same struggle will happen again, and communists can learn ( https://www.idcommunism.com/2023/04/material-forces-that-turn-socialism-into-capitalism.html ) from this defeat in order to stay on the socialist-communist path next time.
