This economy is having the worst effect to happen to an incumbent party. Between the economy and Bush's low approval rating McCain is taking a beating just swimming against the current, but he can do it. With anyone else but Obama, the Democrats would run away with it, but Obama is such a bad choice that the November surprise could be that the Republicans win in spite of Obama's lies and his connections to antisemites, terrorists, and folks that hate America. The problem is McCain is not one to take cheap shots. He has always been a man of honor - but he might just in these last days challenge Obama on all those things, any of which would might bring down the Democrats. He is also at a huge disadvantage because the 527s are not attacking Obama like they should. Many conservatives are also afraid of McCain because he is not in step with his party either; he is the quintessential reformer and he scares some Republicans as much as he does the Democrats. I think all of you who are thinking Obama is intelligent and too cool to lose might be very surprised tonight when McCain takes off his gloves and highlights once and for all what we here already know. I think many of you may be surprised when the polls turn out wrong. I think it is very possible McCain will just surprise all of the doubters and win this election.
