The big day has come at last: Americans have demanded change, and  
McDonald's has responded, by bringing back the beloved Clinton-era McRib. And if  
that doesn't get your lower intestine excited enough, today is also midterm  
Election Day. We're told the Republicans are coming to take the House—at this 
 very moment they're climbing in your windows and snatching your people up.

The polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 9 p.m.

TURN OVER THE BALLOT! Today's the day we get to vote on whether politicians 
 should serve two terms or three, and it's on the back of the ballot. The  
proposal also addresses limiting the power of the City Council and Mayor to  
change their own term limits again. 


And after the "royal screw-up" during the Primary election, the Board of  
Election has issued a statement promising things are going to be different 
this  time. Last week they threw George Gonzalez, the head of the Board of 
Elections,  under the bus, and now they say they've "taken important steps to 
address the  concerns raised from the Primary Election to further improve our 
performance...  Poll Site Coordinators and AD Poll Site Monitors have been 
retrained with a  focus on opening poll sites quickly and protecting voter 
privacy."
 
The Board of Elections even coordinated with the NYPD to ensure police  
officers reported to poll sites by 5:00 a.m. today. Police officers provided 
the  keys to poll workers to unlock and set-up the scanners, ballot marking 
devices  (BMD) and supply carts which contain the paper ballots. Fancy! But if 
things go  wrong, voters are encouraged to call the hotline at 866-VOTE-NYC 
(866-868-3692)  and "to tweet their experiences at their poll sites... the 
Board will monitor  and respond to information posted on Twitter with the 
hashtag #nycvotes with a  dedicated twitter response team, and enter relevant 
feedback into the Board’s  phone bank to ensure any poll site issues are 
handled." So get out there and  vote early, and vote often—and tell us how it  
went!
