Sarah Palin's former staff asks for delay in releasing official emails for the 
15th time

A more than two-year-old request from news organizations for access to Sarah 
Palin's emails during her time as governor of Alaska has again been swatted back 
by Palin's former staff.
On Monday evening, Palin's former staff in the Alaska governor's office asked 
the state's attorney general for their 15th postponement to requests to release 
nearly 25,000 emails exchanged by the former governor, her husband and her 
staff, MSNBC reported.
The requests were made by several news organizations, including NBC News, 
MSNBC.com, The Associated Press, Mother Jones, Pro Publica and the Juneau 
Empire, in 2008 after Sen. John McCain picked her as his vice-presidential 
candidate.
State regulations allow the attorney general to approve a delay if information 
released in public records would hurt the office of the governor, and three 
different attorneys general have received requests from the office to delay the 
release of the emails since Palin was in office.
This time, the governor's office has asked for a delay until May 30, 2011.

Every spring, private security officers at San Francisco International Airport 
compete in a workplace "March Madness"-style tournament for cash prizes, some as 
high as $1,500. The games: finding illegal items and explosives in carry-on 
bags; successfully picking locks on difficult-to-open luggage; and spotting a 
would-be terrorist (in this case Covenant Aviation Security's president, Gerald 
L. Berry) on security videos.
"The bonuses are pretty handsome," Berry said. "We have to be good - equal or 
better than the feds. So we work at it, and we incentivize."
Some of the nation's biggest airports are responding to recent public outrage 
over security screening by weighing whether they should hire private firms such 
as Covenant to replace the Transportation Security Administration. Sixteen 
airports, including San Francisco and Kansas City International Airport, have 
made the switch since 2002. One Orlando airport has approved the change but 
needs to select a contractor, and several others are seriously considering it.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which governs Dulles 
International and Reagan National airports, is studying the option, spokeswoman 
Tara Hamilton said.
For airports, the change isn't about money. At issue, airport managers and 
security experts say, is the unwieldy size and bureaucracy of the federal 
aviation security system. Private firms may be able to do the job more 
efficiently and with a personal touch, they argue.

The increase in opposition to U.S. involvement comes as pessimism about how the 
war is going is rising. According to a poll done Dec. 17-19, 56 percent of the 
public believes that "things are going badly for the U.S. in Afghanistan."

REPUBLICAN: 52 percent favor, 44 percent oppose.
CONSERVATIVE: 49 percent favor, 48 percent oppose.

antidepressant Celexa. Daniel also saw a psychologist there. Doctors added to 
and changed Daniel’s drug regimen, but his problems grew worse, said his mother, 
Tricia Radenz. Daniel started cutting himself and once used his own blood to 
write “the end” on a bathroom wall at school. One day in band class, he began 
hallucinating and ran into the hall, where teachers found him crouched and 
hitting and scratching his face. On June 9, 2009, Daniel hanged himself from a 
bunk bed in his home.
This never should have happened to this kid, or any other child of a military 
family.
Blind faith in the medical establishment is absolutely foolish, particularly in 
light of the fact that these medications are generally not prescribed for 
children.

"Talking therapy", intelligently coupled with a vetted nutritional approach , 
can be potentially far safer modalities of dealing with depression than most of

FDIC: 157 Bank Failures In 2010

amateur night on the highway to contend with. A new year starts every day.

Iraq Research links rise in Falluja birth defects and cancers to US assault

city of Falluja has for the first time concluded that genetic damage could have

Freezing Brits steamed over new green boilers

mandated the use of new green technology boilers in Great Britain. Government 
and environmental experts said that the ‘condensing boilers’ would not only 
greatly reduce the consumer’s carbon footprint, but would also lower their 
heating bills. Saving money and saving the planet, what could be better?
The UK Daily Mail reports that during the recent record cold spell in Great 
Britain, tens of thousands of people were without heat due to a serious flaw in 
the new boiler’s design.
This whole global warming hysteria is about selling you things you do not really 
want, such as carbon credits that are the feedstock for Enron-like scams, global 
government that is already clearly fascistic, ethanol fuels that provide less 
power cost more and wreck your car fuel system, windmills that take more power 
to keep from freezing than they provide, "Green" batteries that cost more while 
providing less power, and now "green" heating systems that will not actually 
heat in the middle of a cruel winter the global warming cultists assured us was 
a thing of the past.
How many more times will you stand for these frauds being foisted at you before 
you decide enough is enough?
I am beginning to think Elizabeth Báthory had at least one good idea. Let's 
strip the global warming cultists naked, wet them down, lock them in an iron 
cage outside in the middle of Cumbria overnight, and ask them the next morning 
if they think the Earth is getting warmer.

Judge warns of ‘Orwellian state’ in warrantless GPS tracking case

Police in Delaware may soon be unable to use global positioning systems (GPS) to 
keep tabs on a suspect unless they have a court-signed warrant, thanks to a 
recent ruling by a superior court judge who cited famed author George Orwell in 
her decision.
In striking down evidence obtained through warrantless GPS tracking, Delaware 
Judge Jan R. Jurden wrote that "an Orwellian state is now technologically 
feasible," adding that "without adequate judicial preservation of privacy, there 
is nothing to protect our citizens from being tracked 24/7."
Great for this judge!
However, this ruling will definitely be reviewed by the Supreme Court, and I 
wouldn't bet against the reinstituion of warrantless GPS tracking as a result of 
that decision, given its current constitution.

Animals in factory farms are given doses of antibiotics -- both to keep them 
alive in stressful, unsanitary conditions, and to make them grow faster. The 
practice leads to new strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as the 
now-widespread form of staph (MRSA) known as ST398.
It's important to realize that antibiotic-resistant disease like MRSA is a 
man-made problem, created by the excessive use of antibiotics. Medical overuse 
of antibiotics is one aspect, but the greatest, and most hidden, factor is the 
excessive use of antibiotics in food production.
Granted, conventional medicine still needs to curtail its prescriptions for 
antibiotics, but even if you use antibiotics judiciously you're still exposed to 
great amounts of antibiotics from the foods you eat.
Studies have shown that when you reduce the use of antibiotics in meat 
production, human disease caused by antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria is 
significantly reduced as well.
As an adult, you have three to four pounds of beneficial bacteria and yeast 
living within your intestines. These microbes compete for nutrients from the 
food you eat. Usually, the strength in numbers that beneficial bacteria enjoy 
both keeps the ever-present yeasts in check and causes them to produce nutrients 
such as the B vitamins.
However, every time you swallow antibiotics, you kill these beneficial bacteria 
within your intestines. When you do so, you upset the delicate balance of your 
intestinal terrain. Yeasts grow unchecked into large colonies and take over, in 
a condition called dysbiosis.

State Dept Slams UN Security Council Resolution Against Israeli Settlements

The US State Department today condemned efforts by the Palestinian Authority to 
bring a resolution before the UN Security Council pointing out the illegality of

NATO General: Afghan War to Escalate in 2011

Even as he tried to stick to the official stance about progress, NATO spokesman 
Brigadier General Joseph Blotz conceded that violence would escalate yet further 
in 2011, adding that “there is no end to the fighting season.”
On the other hand, the German general insisted that NATO was finally moving into 
the “hold” phase of its clear and hold strategy, at least in some parts of the 
country. This did not, however, appear to mean anything in terms of violence.
This appears to be the "pacification phase" of the war, almost a decade in, to 
"calm" the way for the construction of the Trans Afghanistan Pipeline, which is 
slated to begin construction in 2012, and be ready to deliver natural gas from 
Turkmenistan in 2014.
This "pacification" will come with a very brutal price tag for the Afghan 
people, and is yet another demonstration of how this very publicly funded war 
is, at the end of the day, only for potential private profit.

Dodging Repatriation Tax Lets U.S. Companies Bring Home Multinational Cash

At the White House on Dec. 15, business executives asked President Obama for a 
tax holiday that would help them tap more than $1 trillion of offshore earnings, 
much of it sitting in island tax havens.
The money -- including hundreds of billions in profits that U.S. companies 
attribute to overseas subsidiaries to avoid taxes -- is supposed to be taxed at 
up to 35 percent when it’s brought home, or “repatriated.” Executives including 
John T. Chambers of Cisco Systems Inc. say a tax break would return a flood of 
cash and boost the economy.
Corporations can pull off these kinds of moves with absolute impunity.

The TSA's state-mandated molestation

Last month, Janet Napolitano floated the idea of TSA searches for bus, ship and 
train passengers; she later withdrew it, but I'm sure it will be re-introduced 
after Americans come to accept such treatment in airports – which Napolitano has 
just confirmed "for the foreseeable future" (that is, permanently).
So, I can't fly. And maybe, someday not far off, I won't be able to ride any 
form of mass transit either, unless I become so debased and broken in spirit 
that I don't mind vacation and business trips bookended by government-mandated 
sexual humiliation. And while my government requires such dehumanisation, I 
mournfully recall 20 years ago, when the cold war ended and we Americans thought 
concepts like "freedom" and "human dignity" would rule the future.

Terrorist watch list: One tip now enough to put name in database, officials say

Civil liberties groups argue that the government's new criteria, which went into 
effect over the summer, have made it even more likely that individuals who pose 
no threat will be swept up in the nation's security apparatus, leading to 
potential violations of their privacy and making it difficult for them to 
travel.
"They are secret lists with no way for people to petition to get off or even to 
know if they're on," said Chris Calabrese, legislative counsel for the American 
Civil Liberties Union.
Look for these lists to become longer, and more full of names of innocent 
American citizens who simply have reasoned, peaceful differences of opinions 
from those of the Federal government, in order to create a climate of fear.

A year after a Nigerian man allegedly tried to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner, 
officials say they have made it easier to add individuals' names to a terrorist 
watch list and improved the government's ability to thwart an attack in the 
United States.
The failure to put Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on the watch list last year renewed 
concerns that the government's system to screen out potential terrorists was 
flawed. Even though Abdulmutallab's father had told U.S. officials of his son's 
radicalization in Yemen, government rules dictated that a single-source tip was 
insufficient to include a person's name on the watch list.
