Re: Important Follow-up Message

Here are the verifiable facts:

1. Peter Harzem posted to the Behav-An list, to which you are not a member,
a post urging people to support NPR.
2. John Eshleman pointed out that this post was in essence a chain letter.
3. Somehow cross-postings of this issue, repeated several times by John
Eshleman, made it to this list.
4. Peter Harzem asked John Eshleman to stop repeating the fact that his
original well-intended post was in reality a chain letter.
5. John Eshleman went off on Peter, Behav-an (why I still cannot for the
life of me understand).
6. I wrote to John asking him to calm down.
7. Joe Morrow takes a swipe at Peter Harzem, to which Peter responds.
8. Joe Morrow writes back apologizing to Peter, and in the same "apology"
email takes a swipe at me, who not only had no dialogue with him, but spent
time assisting him in the last day making sure the FREE links we provide to
him at www.behavior.org were correct. His swipe is thus: he states, and I
quote: "I left the Behavior Analyst list when Plaud called for
assassinations of people he didn't like." This is not only untrue, but
incredibly ad hominem. I never called for the assassinations of people I
don't like, and making such a statement is simply incredulous. Here is the
true story. After September 11, there were several discussions of types of
responses to the terror that gripped our country, and Morrow most
definitely DID support bin Laden because in a tirade against those, myself
included, who argued for forceful consequences to meet the crisis of
terror, Morrow withdrew from Behav-An because he did not want there to be
consequences for the terrorists. Evidently Morrow believes that persons
such as bin Laden are best dealt with by not using direct techniques. That
strategy, employed for 20 years preceding September 11, 2001, is the
fertilizer that allowed bin Laden and his followers to grow to their
terrible proportions, as we all know by now. Instead of constructively
contributing to the debate Morrow demanded to be removed from Behav-An, and
his demand was granted, the discussion continued for a bit, and that was that.
9. I am truly sorry that I elected to participate with John in this
discussion, for it only served as a stimulus for a number of responses I
still quite frankly do not understand, not to mention Morrow's ad hominem
from left field.
10. Joe Morrow now seeks to wager me regarding a bet for $1000 to the
Cambridge Center. Sorry, Joe, I happily deleted all your correspondences
over 6 months ago. Why not give $1 to the Cambridge Center for the reason
that it has promoted your services for free now for a number of years, and
generally does a lot more to advance the science of behavior, for which you
obviously outside of betting don't see any good reason to support.
11. I am leaving shortly for vacation. Thanks be to God.
12. Peter Harzem: you're now on your own with these fellows, I am sorry to
say, my friend.
