Please circulate as you see fit. Craig BEHAVIOR ANALYST ONLINE.ORG Committed to Serving Behavior Analysis Today and in the Future This e-mail message has been sent to you from a form provided on the forum. The forum operators cannot take any responsibility for its contents. Craig & Joe: All of the database functions for the site are in place. Members may commit to polling, charting posts and displaying data about member posts (rate, etc.), uploading data files including charts and graphs of experiments, etc. Let me know of there are any problems with the size limitations for upload and remind folks that upload means that it will be displayed on the board; it is not an attachment that someone must download and display separately. This allows the user to read the post and look at the chart or graph simultaneously. Additionally we are nearly finished developing the subject and key word charting function. All of the search data base functions are complete. Finally, in the next few days we will have the export archive to HTML feature finished. This will allow you to archive each area of the web forum to a public HTML that can be searched via the internet (Google or Lycos for example). This will stop the size of the database from becoming to large forcing the site run slowly (which clearly we do not want), but still allows folks to view and cite posts that were made from the communities inception. I was hanging out in the Community Chat room and a couple of folks stopped by to have a chat about the community itself and the mission, etc., it was fun. The one problem that we still need to work out is that the "live" chat should also be saved and archived for future reference. We are still working on this portion of the database. All of the work that we are now doing will not effect the normal operations of the current database. An initial congratulations, the population of the community has grown x7 in two days. What is important for those who want the community to become a viable social experiment is that VIP's and Moderators are assigned for each of the topics that appear in the community. While I believe that the contribution method of earning your way to the top is excellent, you must initially set up some moderators and VIP's to get the "pumps primed". Then they must go to those discussion topics and begin to set up sub topics and invite others who would enjoy the discussion. If this does not happen, then people may become members, but the community itself may not flourish. If anyone needs assistance they should send a private message "PM" from within the community forum. This is most easily accomplished by entering the User Centre and clicking on members in the upper right hand corner and then selecting PM next to my name. Let's create a REAL online community! Please communicate any other needs. F. Nietzsche BAO.ORG
