Dear Albanians, I think it is not enough to send a message of congratulations to the author of an article that has been published in the press or online. It is my opinion that the Albanians in the Diaspora should be more active as regards the comments they should write on the articles written not only by Albanian authors, but by Serbs and their mouthpieces on the websites including The Conservative Voice and ChroniclesMagazine, which are run by the most conservative current of the American political thought. The authors of the articles and the commentators on these two websites are linked to high American political elites. On the ChroniclesMagazine website in particular, the Serbs are conducting a vicious anti-Albanian propaganda with their racist and denigrating articles and comments on the Albanian nation and the Kosova issue, whereas the Diaspora Albanians' reaction is almost nonexistent. I think we should do everything possible to make the Albanian viewpoint prevail on the anti-Albanian websites of whoever they might be (I do not mean only the websites I just mentioned).There, we should come to grips with the enemy who is going out of its way to manipulate and brainwash the readers, especially the Americans. To do this, we should deem it our noble duty to inform the Albanian community of any anti-Albanian article in the press or online and consider writing comments to respond to such articles as our first responsibility. Although at a first glance this may seem an easy and negligible task, a comment against the Serbs' theses is a brick that we place on the foundations of independent Kosova and the Albanian nation. Sidomos në ChroniclesMagazine serbët po bëjnë një propagandë të zezë antishqiptare me artikuj dhe me komente raciste e denigruese për kombin shqiptar e për çështjen e Kosovës, kurse reagimi i shqiptarëve të diasporës është pothuajse joekzistent. Mendoj që ne duhet të bëjmë ç'është e mundur që pikëpamja shqiptare të mbizotërojë në websitet antishqiptare, të kujtdoqofshin, dhe jo vetëm ato që përmenda më lart, dhe aty të përleshemi me armikun që po bën ç'është e mundur të manipulojë mendjet e lexuesve, sidomos atyre amerikanë. Për ta bërë këtë, ne duhet ta konsiderojmë detyrë të shenjtë informimin e komunitetit shqiptar për çdo artikull anti-shqiptar në shtyp apo në internet dhe shkrimin e komenteve për të reaguar ndaj artikujve të tillë ta konsiderojmë si përgjegjësinë tonë parësore. I think the Kosova issue, which is part of the Albanian question, the latter being at the core of the Balkan issues, can be solved provided the West is more determined, more united and clear-cut. If there is a will, there is a way. How come some countries are hesitating in the face of the Russian threat? If Russia has her way this time, there will be no stopping her in the future. Are those in the West so shortsighted? I hope they are not. Not the United States, I think. Despite the vissitudes the Kosova Albanians are going through, it is my belief that Kosova is on her way to independence. No doubt about that. In tow words, there's no way to put such a block. The only thing that surprises me is the harmful position of the western diplomacy, so harmful, that even the evilest of genocides can turn into a very lucrative precedent. Such as the "bone" thrown to Serbia after the genocide against Albanians; $ 5 billion. On the other side, they speak of standards and yoking them on Albanians only. On the same face of the medal, we have the genocidal state of Serbia, whereas only 60% of her population is of Serbian ethnicity, and the rest is composed of at least 24 other nationalities; none of them enjoying any imaginable basic human rights. We have the case of Albanians; they have been longtime the second ethnic group of Yugoslavia, after the Serbs and Croats, yet, the only humiliated and persecuted "minority" of the federation. Since the world's opinion created such vile experiments and managed to close an eye to the unseen and untold, cruelest massacres since the times of Nazi, then there could be no chance to see them negotiate with their own consciences upon this humanitarian issues. This time, we will beat the propaganda, we will beat the slanders that are being issued by the medieval regime of Belgrade; at least in the public opinion of the USA and the western world, because free press, and the freedom to know and proclaim the truth now is sacred. The article above, is just a softcore review of the reality. this time the time will not stand still. The eagle of the Balkans will soar again and dive into the blue skies of freedom. They keep silent on the good and substantiated articles because they do not want to draw readers' attention to them. They are fond of such terms and phrases as "kill the Albanians; send them to Turkey; the Arnauts, who have burnt our churches and monasteries." They never say the truth about the Serb Orthodox churches and monasteries being political instruments and bogus religious institutions. It is my opinion that they should be treated as such, a political spearhead to promote Pan Slavism and fight the Albanians, the barrier to such a racist ideology in the Balkans. But does the West understand this fact. Some do, others don't. To prove what I am saying read the comments by Serb readers of the anti-Albanian, racist articles posted on some Serb-inspired or run Websites. What they like is nitpicking, warmongering and anti-Albanian racism. If you object to their obscenity, you are barred from the website. This is also the case with the article by Genci Shala. Another reason they do not respond is that they have no arguments to reject it. Their only "powerful" argument is the so-called invasion of Kosova by Albanians from Albania. When? No answer. Any reliable news agency report at the time of the "invasion"? Not a single one. Some Serbs or their mouthpieces put the figure at 100 thousand, others say that 300 thousand Albanians invaded Kosova to seek jobs, that is, the jobs the Serbs did not do, trying in this way to draw a parallel to the immigrants in America who do the jobs Americans cannot do. Serb propaganda has flooded the history books and the websites with such false arguments, which some people believe. Let me refer to what a friend of mine told me about his correspondence with an "anonymous" author who had written a negative article on Kosova's eventual independence replete with such fake arguments as "Kosovo belongs to Serbia because it is its heartland. KLA, linked to Bin Laden. The Albanians illegally immigrated to Kosovo and once they were a majority, they demanded independence" and so on and so forth. As to his "arguments", my friend's simple question to him was: "Where did you find the facts and arguments? Can you imagine what his answer was although he is used to writing articles on various topics, including the Kosova issue about which he has no opinion of his own though judging by the way he writes about it, he considers himself an authority on the subject? He insisted on his already referred to pro-Serb theses about Kosovo's historic importance to the Serbs, about the battle of Kosovo (he does not know that the Ottomans faced a coalition force in the battle of Kosova, although the Serbs made the Kosova Battle defeat their own), about the KLA being a terrorist group, about Albanians crossing the border into Serbia... He calls these "facts" commonly known and not Serbian propaganda. In fact, I do not blame him for his opinions. He is only one of those who have fallen victim to the Serbian propaganda machine. Such pro-Serbian theses have affected many people in the West because the Yugoslav (Serbian) propaganda has been working full blast at a time when Albanians (Albanian communist leaders) under communism cared only for 'proletarian internationalism', while Albanians today (the Albanian political leaders) under democracy sometimes bury their heads in the sand when it comes to the national question, at other times, see the enemy in the political opponent at home when the question is about the plushy seats in the government. The fog raised by the Serbs in the international arena about Kosova should be dispersed by all means. This calls for resolve and farsightedness. Who will accomplish the task of shedding light on the truth about Kosova? The Albanians in the Balkans and the diaspora and their many friends in the world, who already know what the truth about Kosova is. When it comes to Serbian thesis and viewpoint, it is plainly clear that it's only and all about medieval mythology; while, on the other side, if we went through the Albanian counterview; the history goes farther deeper than prehistory. Historians and archaeologists can very easily prove a consistent and uninterrupted population of the Balkans that ascends to-date with the Albanian population. But we aren't talking about this. And the current western diplomacy, has to bear more in mind the current demographic situation of Kosova than history of the far past. Kosova is already reaching 2,5 million inhabitants, of which, a vastly overwhelming majority is Albanian, reaching more than 95% of the total population, and this fact simply cannot be ignored any longer. It is an entire population that has to enjoy all the basic rights of self determination. Montenegro could excercise this right of self determination, nevertheless it never experienced any conflicts or substantial objection from Belgrade. This is also because 40 something percent of Montenegro's population claims to be of serbian ethnicity, thence, we can freely and undubiously talk about a third Serbian state in the Balkans of less than 700 000 (1/3rd of Kosova's population) inhabitants. We are merely and simply fondling and spoiling the criminals in the Balkans(Serbians) and we are running out of precious time to confirm our real values. By not granting the so much deserved freedom to Albanians in Kosova, we are simply giving "genocide", "ethnic cleansing", "crimes of war and against humanity" and "mass murder", some very delightful definition and sense. Also, by arranging new negotiations between Serbian criminals and Albanians, we are ridiculing the very sense of the Tribunal of Hague and the tens and hundreds of indictmen cases of war crimes and crimes against humanity that have been issued against serbian officials, including here first hand the most evidenced and factualized conflict of Kosova. One thing is certain though: No one is willing to accept responsibility. Recently we have been able to experience what may be considered "a very substantial" sensibilization of the public opinion on this issue. We have been able to see governments sit together and hold talks on such capital issues. We have been able to see improvements in approaching and dealing with these problems; we have seen measures, we have heard promises, we have been massively involved into campaigns against this plague. But we may agree on one thing: It is still happening, despite of the developments we mentioned above. We know it is there, we just cannot ignore it any longer. We can see the signs of it almost everywhere, but mainly around the so called "hot spots", more or less all around the world. Nevertheless, even on this, we may agree to disagree, as some of them just a few years back were considered as an attempt of organizations like Green Peace or other left-wing movements to bring anarchy and fight the world's governance. Some of them have been ignored for such a long time that even their very existence often comes as a surprise. We only react when our lives have been affected directly. So has been the issue of Kosova. Although, this has been a lively hot spot for more than 120 years, we have done our best to ignore it, despite the sporadic eruptions that have happened from time to time, echoing all around Europe with omens of war. But we are not talking about Kosova only. This is the "hot spot" that has seen NATO involved in a military action for the first time since its very creation. We saw the world of values cracking down on brutality, genocide, torture, mass murders, massacres, ethnic cleansing and everything inhumane that was incarnated in the medieval regime of Belgrade. The same regime that massacred over 300 000 Bosnians, over 20 000 Albanians, and ousted at gunpoint over a million of them. It is still the same regime that thrives in Belgrade; old medieval politics run by new faces and looks. When you see the ruling class in Belgrade, it is like seeing "All the men of Milosevic"; yeah, it is all the men of Milosevic, the same faces we were used to see pleading the West to believe and support Serbia as they were fighting against "terrorists". Recent developments indicate that it just might not be over yet. Calls for war are rising from Belgrade and Kosova alike. It just seems that no one in Belgrade has learned the lesson; more importantly, it seems that in Belgrade the resistance nowadays is against values rather than against developments. On the other side, we have the Albanians that vehemently oppose any "solution" that would mean to turn back under the rule of their killers, rapists, looters and torturers; they fiercely disapprove of any solution that would in any way endanger their efforts and millennial aspirations for full independence. The clashes we see today, just as in the past, aren't simply between Serbs and Albanians; they are the last obvious clashes between the West of freedoms and values and the rotten eastern Bolshevik block. We see on the side of Serbia, the awakening bear of the Tundra, - Russia, - the state of anti-values, of reprisals against innocent population and perpetrator of any possible breach of human rights, and we see on the side of Albanians, willingly and eagerly, the promoters of democracy and freedom, the Americans and the entire Anglo-Saxon block. In this mishmash, a couple of other statelets get involved by often doing what they're best at; throwing fuel to the fire. One of them is Greece; the only state in the European Union that creeps against the flow. The only state in the European Union where Albanians are mistreated by the state institutions, where the 800,000 of Albanians enjoy no basic rights at all, whatsoever, despite of their undeniable contribution to the country's economy. But their obvious belligerent position, is rooted deep in history, before and after the world felt the need of a Human Rights Declaration. Not for nothing is Greece being one of the most criticized countries in the world by the Amnesty International regarding racism, discrimination and human rights violations. But, should we listen and even consider the positions of such governments? After all, what are we deciding for? Kosovar Albanians? The future of the region as a whole? Well, it's not just my point of view, that there will be no peace in the Balkans unless the issues of Albanians are resolved. Albanians, today and ever, have always been a major role-playing factor in the complicated political and socio-demographical life of the Balkans. They just can't be ignored. You just can't ignore an entire people, whose past, present and future impacts the lives and the very existence of no less than 5 adjacent states. On the other side of the medal, we have Serbia that even in the worst of cases has been offered a speedy EU integration in case they release hold of Kosova; thus by confirming the doubts of many that Kosova is becoming a precedent for others. Yes, Kosova has already become a precedent, ever since the international community accorded around $ 5 bn. right after the 78 days of bombings, with the pretext of "reconstruction". Thus making sure that every other state that attacks the civil populations, commits ethnic cleansing, genocide and crimes of war, at the end will be rewarded generously. While the rest of the Balkans craves for a little EU and is imposed rules after rules, conditions after conditions, sooner than every other country, Serbia could be granted with the so long awaited membership. Now, a question is raised so naturally... Will we continue to avoid and ignore this problem? Apparently, Kosova is not the problem; she is just one of the symptoms of this pandemonium of our sick society, rules, hypocrite governments, double, triple and quadruple standards. Nobody sane of mind will pretend to successfully fight the flu by merely ignoring the headaches. Kosova is not the problem, but we have to deal with it as it comes to hand, as it is shaking the very fundamental values of our civilization, as it becomes more and more urgent every passing day. Will we be able to sleep at night if we deliver 2 million of Kosovar Albanians to the hands of their slayers, murderers and rapists? Unfortunately for some, and very fortunately for the rest of us, there's no two different viewpoints to this case. On one side we have the media-verifiable, plain genocide against civil population, mass slaughters, mass graves, and a huge Nazi-style ethnic cleansing, and on the other, the intervention of the free world, USA, UK, and NATO to crack down on this catastrophe. And all this happened less than 10 years ago. Useless to restart with history lectures. Shall we ever learn from our errors in the past? Shall we learn to stop experimenting on innocent peoples? As we saw some 15 years ago, one of our most infamous experiments started to dissolve in blood and hundreds of thousands of innocent casualties and no less than 4 wars. Shall we recreate the same kind of monsters just to feed our need for action, for the new, the need for adrenaline? Some have suggested that we should organize new negotiations between Serbians and Albanians. Some hot heads have suggested that Kosova and Serbia should unite in a new federation; some others have suggested that the partition of Kosova is an eventuality and may be one option. And there we are at the moment, a new stage of 120 days of negotiations. But negotiate what? You know, when one is drowning, he has so much to negotiate, even take his spare time, if not leisure, to negotiate on the ways he wants his life saved or even decide if he want to be saved at all! Besides, since that life is not ours, we can permit ourselves the luxury to waste as much time as we want. This is exactly where we should question our real values, those values we have fought for so long and have promoted around the world, to free the peoples of the earth from tyranny, oppression, violence and violations, slavery and captivity? Are our values still the same? Are our values those of freedom and democracy? I suppose and fiercely believe so. Thence, I wouldn't understand the 120 extra waste-of-time days that are awarded to the spoiled brat of the Balkans, Serbia. If we start to tolerate all the caprices of this thug in the heart of EU, where should we say stop? The difference is that one is fighting for the basic rights and the right to decide for their lives and future, while the other has just an insatiable appetite and simply won't let go. Will we be able to say stop? The next "thug" might be more powerful and more patronizing, more demanding and more imposing than the present. Russia has already snarled at EU and the cross-Atlantic world. They already stuck a flag in Canadian territory; they've already tried the stamina and patience of the European public by challenging their governments; cutting short gas supplies and rising prices at a blink. They threatened and challenged the very existence, the essence of the UN, the Security Council. Is the world approaching to ... where are we really going like this? After all, if the temperature remained stuck at the same level, would we ever speak of "Global warming" or climate change??? After all, shouldn't Kosova, so tragically and unjustly, have been amputated from the rest of the nation and awarded as a poach-prize to the appalling greed of Serbia less than a hundred years ago, we wouldn't be here today discussing and negotiating ways to save 2 million people from extermination and on how to grant them a natural right, - freedom. Quenching the drought in the Balkans is not so difficult after all... the world just has to offer the water of freedom to those who need it rightfully. We managed to ignore Darfur for so long that we risk creating one in the heart of Europe.
