December 11th is the deadline for Kosovo to become “de jure” independent. Most of the Albanians think that Kosovo became independent, “de facto”, a long time ago, on March 1999, when NATO allies leaded by USA bombed Belgrade, the last dictatorship in the middle of Europe. The last meetings between both sides were part of the improvised show directed mostly by Serbia and her natural ally, Russia.

The last polls, which took place in Serbia and Kosovo show that more than 95 % of Serbians think that saying “No” is the best solution for Kosovo. Saying “No” to the Serbs is actually the best solution for Albanians also. Making a deal with Serbia it is unimaginable for many reasons. First of all none of the Serbian politicians never asked for forgiveness, never apologized either. The international community never heard any Serbian official saying: “We apologize to the 20 000 victims of Kosovo, we apologize to all those raped women and burned alive children. We apologize to one million Albanians, which we expelled from their burned homes, in March and April, 1999.”

On the contrary: We are witnessing how Serbia is still hiding the war criminals and how Serbia is not cooperating with the international community to bring the war criminals behind bars, in order for them to face justice.

Saying “No” to Kosovo, it will make the Serbian government believable to the inner public, which is already blind by the harshest nationalism and segments of fascism. Saying “No” to Kosovo will help the Serbian government stay in power. Saying “No” works pretty well for the Albanians themselves, on the other hand.

The domino effect might occur, if the international community doesn’t recognize Kosovo as an independent state, immediately, after December 11th. This means that Kosovo might be happy to join Albania in one state, like Eastern Germany and Western Germany did, after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Parts of Macedonia, (including parts of the capital Skopje), will be considered by the hard line nationalists to join the new state, which will be drawn based on the ethnic lines.

Who is going to stop the Albanians in the Balkan to do so, if the independence is not granted? The Tsar veterans can not do that. They can not even scare their own little children with their figures like animated cartoons.

There are more than 4 million guns in the hands of Albanians on both sides of the border. More than 10 years had passed since the collapse of Albanian Army in Albania and the guns are all over the place around the Balkan. Guns, based on the Albanian tradition will be like that, all over the place, hidden inside walls, under the ground, every where. The last incidents in Macedonia, where six Albanians were killed, show that the situation is so volatile, as no one can ever imagine.

In order to avoid the domino effect, Kosovo Leaders shouldn’t lose their hope and desire to cooperate with the international community and their best ally, United States. The government of Kosovo has to declare right away Kosovo as an independent state and have the project ready to open its own embassies all over the world, cooperating with the Albanian community abroad. Kosovo has to think right now, where its own embassies will be opened. They have to be opened everywhere, in Washington, Brussels, London, Islamabad… Kosovo has to make a list of the new ambassadors and create a new strategy, what will they do next, in order to avoid the chaos.

As Condi Rice said, “Kosovo’s economy is pure and very weak.” Stronger economic ties with Albania and Macedonia will help to improve the situation on the ground. The unification of both sides of a nation has to start from the economy. It’s the turn of the businessmen to think for the first time about politics.

But building a stronger economy doesn’t happen in a second. The political decisions might take place in a second. The United Stated has to be firm in her stand by recognizing Kosovo as an Independent State. George W. Bush made it clear in Tirana, the Albanian capital, during his last visit. It’s time to repeat it.

The Serbs are saying that “the violence can not be an argument”. Yes, it might not be an argument, but it might work pretty well on the ground.

The partition of Mitrovica will not happen for one strong reason: If Serbians think they can do that, than Presheva’s Valley will declare that will join Kosovo, as the Natural Eastern Part of Kosovo. The domino effect will work better for the Albanians, rather than for the Serbs.

Like it or not, live it or take it, this is the reality. “Yes” is already in our pockets. It’s time to make it legal, by using our own efforts. NAAC has to organize a very strong rally in Washington in support of the independence of Kosovo. There are signs that the organization “Mjaft” in Albania started to understand the situation, by supporting the independence of Kosovo fully. It’s time for every single Albanian intellectual to support Kosovo in these critical times, in order to avoid the chaos.

The victims of Kosovo will never forget
