Heh.

I took my first "extended" ride on my fixie today.  It's a bit small for me,
but I took it out for a little over 11 miles.  I avoided some of the bigger
hills just for that reason - even though I wear clipless pedals, I wasn't
sure I could pedal fast enough to keep up at 35+mph. 30 was a bit of a
stretch...

I'm definitely not a hipster and have both brakes on the bike.  Riding a
singlespeed/fixie is very freeing, because you don't have to think/worry
about shifting.  You do have to worry about whether you can grind up hills
though.  I've really enjoyed the road rides on my single in the past two
years.  My fixie has higher gearing than the ss I used to ride, so it will
take some getting used to.
