Ortlieb Handlebar Extender

Hello, Just wondering if any of the readers have used this extender for their Ortlieb Handlebar bags, as I am having difficulty mounting my bag onto new handlebars. Wondering if it is still sturdy and stable, and does it come with a new cable? My LBS can't seem to get one in, any hints on where to find one in Canada would be wonderful.
