I would want to travel as light as possible for any extended time off pavement in the mountains. Dunno if the extra 15 lbs of the trailer would be a good thing. Most of the guys that race/ride the Tour Divide are using frame bags along and/or a backpack to carry their stuff. Would be conceivable that you would run into streams or creeks that needed fording as well.
