I have read through journals on CGOAB, looking for information on steepness of roads in places I plan to go; and I've been frustrated when I couldn't find any info that would enable me to anticipate how hard I would find it. I wouldn't ask people to collect that information on their tours, though, because it would interfere with riding. I had an inclinometer on my bike for a while, and you really have to stop the bike to get a reading that's at all meaningful. Usually, when I was on a steep pitch and wondered what the grade was I was unwilling to stop to check. Eventually, the clamp on the inclinometer broke and it's off my bike for good. Andrejs Ithaca, NY
