Check out the folks who do powder coating in your area. These days,
if you get your frame run through with other stuff that is being
painted with an acceptable color, you can often get the frame
sandblasted, pretreated, and powder coated with a very durable,
attractive job for a pretty low price. You can often save money by
masking threads, etc., yourself. Consult with the company you're
dealing with.

You can get better results than any of the traditional methods
(durability and aesthetics) at a much lower cost that is more
environment-friendly. (This is because the paint gets attracted to
the frame surface electrostatically, and it is then heat cured. No
solvents are required.

You can get any color you choose, but as suggested above, you might
be able to get a deal by having your frame run through with some
other stuff that is being coated with a color acceptable to you.

Well after a summer sans bike, the first time since I was 17, I
finally got
another. I had to sell my Raleigh Alyeska (which was 2cm too large
anyhow)
during a brief period of unemployment last spring, but I just picked
up a
spiffy Raleigh Wyoming and I can't wait to spend this summer
upgrading it
and going for short rides. Perhaps I can finally do an extended ride
next
year. :)

There frame is solid as can be, but it spent the last 3 months as a
city
bike before I rescued it so there are some chips through to the
metal on the
paint job. No rust on the inside though, thank god. Should I have it
painted
(and if so, by whom?) or should I do a DIY paint job on it?
