Mark, I used several different note books for journals, and found the
spiral bound ones tore up the fastest, while still out on tour.

I like the mead composition books.  But only the small one, with the
pages sewn rather than glued.  The glued ones come apart on me.  But
they are hard to find.

Sometimes I use what ever my daughters gave me for a special occasion,
like this:
