Re: Rights vs. Responsibility

I had someone in a large 4x4 say that (well, yell that) at me yesterday. I
was riding the loop around Sauvie Island, when the 4x4 overtook me in a turn
by crossing the double yellow - almost hitting two cyclists head on coming
the other way. Apparently it was my fault for "forcing" him into the other
cyclists when I should have been riding to the right of the white line.
Never mind that I was at most a foot to the left of the white line, and
there's a glorious three inches of pavement to the right of the line before
you're into the grass. And it was the fault of the other cyclists for being
on the road too.

Apparently I have learned the power to divert large speeding trucks from
their path, using only my 165 pound body and 20ish pound bike.

And all of this is after a particularly bad week in town for cyclists,
including one rider who was left in bad shape after a woman got distracted
by her dog in the car, and ran over the cyclist and into a house.
