My worst bike was really pretty good. In 1973 I took a tour of lower Michigan. My bike was a 1972 Chrome Paramount P13 Racing bike. Gearing was 42 x 52 and 15 to 26 in the rear. With cycle cross tubulars that were about 28 mm wide. Surprising enough I didn't have any tire problems. And the gearing was good. I was only 22 and only caring an extra 30 pounds. My only problem was the drive side chainstay separated from the dropout about a mile from my house, after about 500 miles. When removing the rear wheel I found the axel was broken. The next year I took the same bike on an east cost trip, with a set of clinchers, and the same gearing. I still am riding this bike, but not for touring. Tom Dusky Huntington Woods, MI
