RE: Fwd: Bar End Question

I still have the original Shimanos on my 9 year old co-motion (9 cog) as
well as my 17 year old cannondale (7 cog).  Not sure what would break but
both have a pretty crisp click.  OF & overweight my self I do my share of
shifting as well.  

The cannondale one is interesting. The front is kind of indexed as well.  No
click for the inner or outer ring, but there is one for the middle ring.  I
adjust to that and it seems to provide the best of both worlds.  I get
positive positioning in the middle but can trim on either end.

     I don't know about the rebuildability (how's that for a word!) of bar
end 
shifters but I have had a set of Shimano Dura-Ace bar-end shifters on my 
recumbent trike for over 9 years.  Being an old fart and over weight I tend
to 
shift around the cogs an awful lot and I have had no problems with the 
shifters except for the plastic covers sliding off the levers ... fixed that
one 
with a touch of heat-shrink.  Of course this is just one man's experience
and 
as always YMMV.
