Not sure where you heard this claim Mike, but it contradicts my experience,
both as a rider and a
mechanic/shop owner, and what I have always heard.  Wax based lubes are
indeed "clean" in that they
won't leave a chainring mark on your calf, but unless you soak and scrub the
chain between applications,
it results in a nasty buildup on your chain and cogs, and is the least
durable of lubes in wet conditions.
I am not familiar with "Squirt" however.
