********** ATTENTION: The touring list has moved from bikelist.org to Google Groups. You must resubscribe to the list to continue to get list emails. You can join the new list by going to: http://groups.google.com/group/bicycletouring OR by sending email to bicycletouring+subscribe-/[email protected] The touring list will no longer operate on bikelist.org by the end of this week. ********** "Miles, I hear ya! I run a shop also and have stock sitting there that was ordered in by someone and never picked up. This stuff builds up over time until we have a Saturday morning sale and generally sell it for less than what it cost us. > How many times we have sat there waiting for the customer to come pick up the tube, or pump, or whatever I can't remember, but what I do know is I appreciate the guy who does that for me so we do it for our customers. " A sports shop I frequent in Germany has a way round that problem: whenI have ordered from them, I have to pay a 50% deposit at the time, plus sign a contract agreeing to purchase the item. I presume that if I didn`t turn up to pick up an item, they would bill me for it anyway, via my credit card .
