The best thing to do is head for your local scrap yard.

Where are you based BTW?

Simon.

Subject: [Sevens] IACV AGAIN

Hi

Old problem reoccurring - but worse now 1.6SS Kseries 2000 Caterham. Went
for
a blat round south Pennines & got to Ladybower dam & was 'ticking over @ 2.5
to 3 k revs....... & on way home started cutting out on tickover.

I took the iacv out & it was a bit 'gungey' so cleaned it with petrol
BUT....not cured problem

Who knows if the iacv plunger thingy should 'freely' move in & out of the
housing or if it should be very hard to push in (ie put a rag over the end &
press against a wall) & nearly impossible to pull out?? The steel dome at
the
end has a plastic sleeve behind it with a spring under the sleeve - should
this spring push the steel end cap out to press against the plastic flange
in
the throttle body??

I thought that SUCTION of inlet air PULLED the plunger OUT against the
flange.

Any way after cleaning I fired it up & it ticked over (at cold) about 3k
revs.
Took it off again & eased the plunger a bit further so it mated with the
flange before screwing up & tried again - this time 1k revs. Went for a 20
mile run & everything seamed OK until the last mile when I'd really got it
hot
& it started ticking over @ 2K

any suggestions
