Antifreeze

1990 caterham x flow
Frosty weather panic.
Have been losing some water over a period of time & topping up. Up to 2
litres at worst! Can't find any sign of leak!
Have put in  a litre of anti freeze. Assumed about 6 litre capacity & 1to 4
anti freeze/water ratio required. Assumed a bit of antifreeze left in.
Coudn't find drain cock so just stuck it in neat & ran the engine for a bit
to mix it up.

Would someone out there please tell me if I'm a complete plonker or what.
Any ideas where that water is going?
It seems to go pretty well although there does seem to be a bit of a cloud
left behind when I zoom off.
Ooo I hope it's not too scary as I do so love my little car.          Vic
