It is indeed interesting. Most interesting is that the basic difference is 
in the 2nd gear. Yours provides an extra bit of oomph in the 50 - 80 
range, which is of course useful :-)

They do look good don't they :-) And with the extra torqueyness of the VX 
probably covering up for the lack of the extra gear (when compared with 
yours) should provide an interesting on the road experience. But then you 
and Alex have been here before :-))

It's 3.8kg including the ring gear, which actually all feels very light in 
your hands. IMHE flywheels have tended to be a "two handed" lift, this is 
certainly a one handed affair :-)))

Almost. The issue seems to be that I am restricted to a single plate and 
need to choose the release bearing with care, but it all seems feasible 
with a Quartermaster single plate clutch. It has been done before so at 
least I know that much. Trying to track down part numbers at the moment...

Plan for the coming days is to try the box with the current flywheel and 
clutch, I'll mod them over the winter...
