The tables arrived nicely formatted here, very informative indeed. >>>>I've put 22 inch driven wheels in and then at the bottom (3rd chart) my own setup. Ignore the max power column. I'm interested by the similarities and differences like we both will hit 52mph in 1st at (our own) max revs and that we're within a hair of each others "potential" top speed.>>>> It is indeed interesting. Most interesting is that the basic difference is in the 2nd gear. Yours provides an extra bit of oomph in the 50 - 80 range, which is of course useful :-) >>>>This shows (to me) that you have an intelligently spaced set of ratios. You only have to compare it with the original box (chart 1) to see how silly the normal 5-speeder is in a Se7en.>>>> They do look good don't they :-) And with the extra torqueyness of the VX probably covering up for the lack of the extra gear (when compared with yours) should provide an interesting on the road experience. But then you and Alex have been here before :-)) >>>No. got a pic of the new flywheel?>>> http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Gearbox/Flywheels_covers_20xe/FLY-W2.gif It's 3.8kg including the ring gear, which actually all feels very light in your hands. IMHE flywheels have tended to be a "two handed" lift, this is certainly a one handed affair :-))) >>> Have you resolved what clutch to fit? >>> Almost. The issue seems to be that I am restricted to a single plate and need to choose the release bearing with care, but it all seems feasible with a Quartermaster single plate clutch. It has been done before so at least I know that much. Trying to track down part numbers at the moment... Plan for the coming days is to try the box with the current flywheel and clutch, I'll mod them over the winter...
