The desert rains are being very kind to us this winter and more are
predicted, this bodes well for desert spring flowers. Tucson's Sonoran
desert will be in full bloom as the Tucson Tango Festival gets under
way. If you haven't see our desert in bloom you are in for a spectacular
treat!

The famous Picacho Peak State Park is only a 15 minute drive from the
festival venue where the flowers are known to stretch for miles in every
direction. At the very least the beautiful garden area of the Holiday
Inn will be lush and and rich with the fragrance of blooming fruit
trees! Ahhhhh there is nothing like the smells of a grapefruit tree in
full bloom!

Internationally Recognized Tango DJ: Tine Herreman
Is Offering DJ Classes at the Tucson Tango Festival
If you have thought of becoming a DJ or are a DJ inclined to improve
your skills and talents, this is the class to take! Tine (pronounced
"Tina") is internationally respected for her ability to contain and
deploy the energy on the pista de la milonga! Or if you simply want to
know more about the music, Tine will be hosting a music appreciation
lecture as well.

Tine was the founding president of the Yale Tango Club, and organized,
taught and DJ'ed for the club from 2003 to 2007. She developed the club
from a small practica to the most active social club on campus, with
almost weekly workshops with visiting teachers and a national festival.
She also started several networks for DJ and community development.

Tine Herreman plays devastating tangos, soaring valses and irresistible
milongas. She creates a warm and genial mood for the dancers to enjoy
each other's embrace.


She has a vast collection, but every song she plays is a greatest hit.
As a dancer, Tine likes to lead and follow uncomplicated tango with
sophisticated musicality. Tine deejays at big and small milongas in New
York and the Northeast, and occasionally beyond.

Festivals where Tine has DJ'd include the Portland Tango Fest, NY Tango
Festival, Tango de los Muertos, the Atlanta Tango Fest, the Yale Tango
Fest, and others. She has played all-night events in Montreal, San
Francisco and Europe. She hosts and often DJs Tango Lounge (Friday),
Tango Loft (4th Saturday) and Tango Fix (Mondays) in New York.
