On the car, the valve is somewhat protected, since the drain is on the side edge of the oil pan, not the very bottom. Thus the valve doesn't stick out very far, and the undertray helps to protect it from grime. On the bike, I feel that it would be more exposed. It makes changing oil much less of a hassle. Now the only tool I need is a strap wrench to remove the filter. And it's nice to no longer worry about dropping the plug into the pan I'm draining oil into. Just flip the valve. One feature which you may not have considered - it's now possible for me to adjust my oil level. If I overfill, I can easily drain a small portion without draining the whole thing (or getting messy trying to screw in the drain plug).
