Oh yeah, the last time I was at Jiffy Lube, Oil Stop, Lube-you-Quick or
whatever, they offered to sell me a valve thing, but they sold it wrong.

My 91 VW Fox originally belonged to one of my sons (one who was never
interested when I was working on a car) and he took it in to Oil Can Henry's
or Jiffy Lube and one of their mechanically challenged cretins put
anti-freeze in the oil filler. Fortunately my son came over a couple days
later and wanted me to check his spark plugs. I pulled the dipstick out of
habit and there was this white creamy substance on it. I had him take the
car over to a mechanic I knew and I paid $700 for him to tear down the
engine to determine if there was any damage. There wasn't. When my son and
his wife moved to Seattle he gave me the car to settle our debt.
Before I had the engine checked out I did consult with a lawyer friend (yes,
they do have friends) and he said that since two days had gone by there was
no way to prove that the idiot at the lube joint had made the error..
Well, the little pseudo-Audi now has 160+K miles on it and has never had any
engine problems so I wound up getting a great car for $700...
Moral...I would never trust a vehicle to any of those quickie oil
joints.......
