While I'd like to imagine everyone reading this thread knows better,
since I've heard of enough people hurting themselves by going under
cars which they jacked up, I feel an obligation to insert some education:

Do NOT place any part of yourself under a car which is only on a
jack.  Likewise, do not place our hands/arms where they could be
crushed by the suspension if weight was reapplied to the wheels.
Lower the car onto GOOD jackstands (preferably rated way in excess
of the weight you'll be putting on them)  and have the other wheels
blocked so it can't roll anywhere.

This is ESPECIALLY true for hydraulic jacks, though mechanical jacks
shouldn't be trusted with your safety either.

Mike ... who just yanked a wheel off his car to dig out a power
steering pump bolt he dropped.  Jacking up a unibody car to remove
a wheel is disturbing.
