Perfect timing on this post. I did just about the same thing. I finally low-sided my SV last weekend. although I almost hesitate to call it that... I was doing just under 15 mph when it happened. It was about 20 degrees, 1130pm, hit a patch of black ice while entering a left hand turn onto an empty residential street. I've been really trying to ride more in the winter, despite those damn D-208's... This is my second accident in 18 years.. the first one being E.R. material many years ago, this one, no big deal. The sliders, same as with Jon, saved my bike from some serious damage... I busted the gear shifter, ground about 1 inch off of the frame slider on the left side, same deal with the spool on that side for the pit bull...clutch lever is toasted, cracked the mirror, kickstand is pretty scraped to hell, but still functional. I think it's psychological, but I swear, my 03 is making a very faint ticking noise now too... kind of like that cam chain sound, but at Idle now. My wife heard it, so I don't think it's just a loose screw in my head. I don't know if the valves could get knocked out of adjustment that easily... but that was the first thing that came to mind. I haven't ridden the bike since then... but it's only been a week, so I'll fix her up this weekend and do a better check-ride. If it doesn't go away, I'll probably have it servised at the dealer, just about time for a valve job anyway... My gear saved my butt... not a scratch on my joe rocket gloves or jacket, but my brand new boots are a little scuffed, no complaints, just a sore knee and a painful reminder (again) that it will happen to everyone eventually. I can't even remember where I bought my sliders from... maybe I'll post a pic somewhere so one of you guys can help me remember what kind they are.
