I got caught in the same rain yesterday, but I was expecting it so I took my
rain pants.
I bought a pair of nylon pants many years ago from champion sporting goods.
They are pretty thin so they roll up nice and small. They would fit under
the seat and leave room to spare, except I have the space filled with a
first aid kit and some other emergency gear. they have a zipper on the
outside of each leg that goes to the knee, so they are easy to get on and
off over boots and leathers (or dragging jeans).
I spray them with silicone waterproofing spray every couple of years to
keep them waterproof.

Works great and I think I spent $10 for the pants and a can of spray.
