Doohickey Question

Ok need some help with nomenclature here.
I'm new to Suzuki's, well that's not quite correct had a TS185 back
in the early 70's but it was a single cylinder 2 stroke.

Anyway, what's a doohickey, and where's the doohickey bolt?
I know what a doohickey is on a KLR650 but haven't heard that term
for a Suzuki.

I bought a used 2005S in November with 1,000 miles on it and don't
intend to take it to any dealer for service.
I service all our bikes.

And while I'm posting is there other peculiarities (things to service
or watch) to the SV that I need to be aware of.

And I have another question.
I've noticed that sometimes when I shift from 1st to 2nd it finds a
false neutral.
Is this a common thing to the SV or am i just being sloppy with my shifting?
Had the same problem with a Honda Hawk GT and installed a Factory Pro
transmission shift kit with a heavy duty spring and a roller with
bearing on the detent arm. It shifts nice and crisp now.
