The icon coat is already textile not leather. so not really losing much

	Strictly speaking (in terms of theory) the value of leather is that when you
	hit the pavement, your body will slide, rather than tumble. Having a winter
	coat on top might add to tumbling action as the coat "catches" on pavement.
	
	On the other hand, it adds an extra layer of padding. Just thought I'd be
	nit-picky

	I have a summer weight Icon jacket which contains the elbow pads and padding
	and such. But it has large mesh panels, that make it unsuitable for winter
	so I just throw my old snowboarding coat on top of it. so I get all the
	protection of the jacket and the warmth of the liner of my snowboarding
	jacket and water-repellent  outer shell.
