year after I dressed him.)  I'd hate to hit a 230+lb deer with my Ford
Ranger, let alone my SV.

I've had one close call (with a smaller doe), and I too found myself
scrubbing off speed in a hurry.  The real scary part was the soccer mom
behind me who was busy looking at the deer, and not me in front of her.

The sound of squealing brakes on on a Suburban made me glad for the MSF
course I took years back.  Even thought I was in the wrong gear for it, I
dropped the clutch and gave it gas, the SV got me out of her way  (better
than my Ninja would have for being in the wrong gear IMO.)

I'm no sure how close she actually got, but it sure woke me up.

Deer are best taken with a bow, not a bike.
