Re: Track Day video

That was the first session of the morning and the track was still damp
in a lot of spots so everyone was taking it easy at first. At the end of
the  long  straight  (1900  ft) the SVs can hit about 115 and we don't
brake much for  turn  one  which is really just a kink. I guess
the litre bikes hit maybe 140, you can see them pull away but most slow way down for T1
and   the  SVs  are  right back on their tales. We are probably taking
turns 8 and 9 at about 80-90.

This was my first time out
since  my  1/30  crash and I was pretty tentative. You can see a heavy
guy  on a blue SV go by me and then a lap later the my buddy doing the
filming goes by on his DL-650.

The  group  was  actually  A  & B combined since we had a very small A
group  turnout. The camera was actually a regular digital set on video
mounted on the V-Strom handle abr with a Ram mount. It saved the video
as a huge 350 meg MOV (Quicktime) file which I had to convert first to
AVI  for  editing  then saved as a WMV. It did have a microphone which
picked  up  the  V-stroms  exhaust note when it was not drowned out at
high speed by wind noise.

The  wall  is  kinda  scary  especially since I was watching when Greg
Moore, a once rising WERA champ (and still NPR track record holder) clipped it while
leading  a WERA race and suffered a compound femur fracture, which has
led  him  to  give  up racing. However, the track owner recognises the
danger and uses a hay bale wall to force riders to take an inside exit
in an attempt to improve safety. That exit is definetely a key to fast
time  but  I  have  a  lot  of other less daunting turns to improve on
before I start pushing my limits there.

For reference the track record is 1:12 on a GSXR1000, 1:18 is the best
time for a superbike prepped SV650. My personal best is a 1:35.32
