The new BC296D comes APCO 25 ready, including the 9600
baud c4fm &
cqpsk (whatever that means)
==========================
These are ways of encoding the digital data upon the
radios transmitted (or received) signal. In simple
terms it is "FM" an steroids.

I just bought the BCI25D card to work with my BC250
because I wanted
to receive the digital apco 25 signal and it didnt
come with one..
I do know what baud rate is (when referring to PC
transfer speeds)
but my question is...
======================
The Baud rate is with respect to the control channel
of the trunked system. The baud rate of most, if not
all, trunked systems in North America are shown on
Radioreference.com
======================
Will the difference in Baud rate grossly effect
receiving or
decoding the digital signals?
=================
Baud rate is only with respect to trunked systems. If
there are non trunked, APCO25 signals in your area
baud rate does not apply to them.
================
I guess I am unclear as to what part the BAUD rate
plays on actual
scanning of these APCO 25 digital systems..
==============
If a system in 9600 baud it can ONLY support digital
radios, 3600 systems do both analog and digital
radios. If the system you are interested in has both
analog and digital coms you will be OK with the 250
=============
Will I be unhappy with
the 3,600 baud, in which case I will return it and
just upgrade my
scanner to the BC296D..
==============
You will not know the difference unless the system in
your area is 9600... Again check Radio reference to
see what is in your area.
==============
AND
Are there any other differences that I would be
missing with this
BCI25D that were added to the 296D. (ie, c4fm & cqpsk)
============
Battery life... Like gravity, these things suck (power
that is).. I barely get 5 hours of use vs my pro 96
where I get 8 to 12 hours of use.
============
Has anyone bought one of these Digital Cards??
Any opinions are appreciated..
Thanks.
Pete
If you have come here to find out about the 250D you have come to the right place! In fact the discussion of the BC-250D and how it works is the only acceptable topic on this list. Any discussion about anything other than the BC-250D is OFF TOPIC. I hope this is clear to all group members..
