Thanks for the information. That makes getting the cable potentially easier.
I have been reading my BC manual with no success as per APCO channels. As I
said earlier I am going to get the software and should be running as soon as
I either find the cable or buy a new one. Has anyone had any luck with a
serial to USB converter to use the scanner with a laptop that has no serial port?
Scanner Masters site says their software does not support USB. Thanks, Brian

Software and the PC to BC250 cable is the same as used with the new BCD396T.
Trying to program the BCD250 or BCD396T manually is almost mission
impossible. Uniden's help advice was basically read the 150 page owners manual. I
repleced my BC250 with the BCD396T and had it almost a month before I got it
working right as a digital trunking scanner. And this only by using the PC to
program. I wanted to go to only one agency. I now can turn scanner on and the
only agency I am interested in comes up. I can rotate the scroll knob to select
the different talk groups.

Subject: [UnidenBC250D] APCO Channels

I have owned my BC250 with APCO card since it came out. I am not a copmplete
idiot although I occaisionally play one in real life. My digital card shows
up on turning the scanner on but I can't seem to tune any of the local,
Westerly RI, channels. The card is enabled and the frequencies appear to be loaded
correctly. Nothing. If there is anyone out there who knows how to program
this thing PLEASE HELP. Should I be programing it with my PC and is the
software and cable still available. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I bought
the thing at Lentini's in Newington CT and several times have thought of
bringing it to them but moved to RI making that difficult. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Who wrote the manual for this, Foster Brooks?
