I just looked at the BC396 and like what I see. Our Police station here is about 100 feet from a local airport parking lot so I could use the close call feature to get myself started. I am hoping the "yes again" was for a positive result of scanning with the BC396. I am very partial to portable scanners and my friend likes base units. He is about 80 years old and completely computer illiterate so I may have him get the thing programed. It would be great if he could get one that works out of the box. Otherwise I'll never hear the end of it. Ever! Thanks again to both of you. Brian
