Too bad y= ou hadn=E2=80=99t been able to get a BC296D and a BC796D as they are 9600 B= aud compatible, but they still wouldn=E2=80=99t have tracked a Motorola reb= anded system. However, like another poster mentioned you could have purcha= sed a new BCD436HP for 499.95 and/or it=E2=80=99s base/mobile counter part,= the BCD536HP for 599.95, and been able to receive most of the current radi= o systems.
