Yes it is a male DB9 which plugs into the female DB9 on the scanner cable. =
 Obviously the other end is USB which plugs into a USB port on your compute=
r.  Most adapters come with a CD with drivers on it which need to be instal=
led on your computer, but some adapters come with instructions to go to the=
 manufacturers web site and download the drivers.  The drivers need to matc=
h the chipset in the adapter.

Is this the Serial DB9 to USB adapter that you plug into the end of the exi=
sting programming cable?  I have the programming cable but no available ser=
