I'm using the Parnass TK2 program, which seems to work fine for inputting the numbers (software wise, anyway) but is less than what I'd call "functional". I think this is the R2's fault, not the program's. If I program any LW freq number into a memory location it seems to load to the radio ok, but whether it actually recieves that frequency is another matter. For instance, I programs 247 kHz, the frequency for the Albuquerque airport's NDB signal (which is easily heard on my other radios capable of this band) and heard nothing but some subharmonics from local AM stations when using an external base antenna or my longwire. The duck antenna, of course, picked up zilch. I also tried plugging in LW freqs into the scan edges to do a search, and read them to the radio. The numbers plug in, but when you try to initiate a search, the display reads out an AM radio band freq (usually 1.600 but sometimes .500 or other random freqs above .5Mhz) locked on the dial. Several tries of changing longwave freq values (say the .160 - .180 1750 Meter experimenter band or .05 - .07 to search for WWVB at 60khz yielded the same results: no search on the longwave bands, even though the radio says the numbers are plugged in right if you look at the scan edge frequencies. Just my radio, or anyone else see this problem. I'm inclined to think its just a case of trying to push the radio beyond design limits using software, but maybe its just my rig. I remember the old Bearcat 250 could be tricked into programming shortwave freqs into it - but just because the frequency showed on the dial didn't mean it would pick up anything and it didn't, unless it was above 25 Mhz and in FM mode). ------------------------ Yahoo!
