P.S. my http://jidanni.org/comm/radio/icom_r2/memory.html asks just how
much those non-valid step size frequencies would mean...
e.g. 10.23125 and 10.231 Mhz would map to the same address... and the
LCD calls it 10.23125

Maybe I will have better luck with NDB's closer to the .495 floor seen
in the manual?  I hope Bob can put a "irresponsible mode" option we
can click to bypass the new safety checks he put in (at my request),
that way we can see what putting e.g. 000247 in a register will do for
9khz step models, as per your 10khz model experiment.

I believe if you go beyond low=0.495; high=1309.995 you can only
expect to enjoy that single frequency you programmed. Once (after
copying it to the VFO) you turn the knob to move around from it, the
radio spots the tomfoolery and puts a sane value in.

You young man, have gone beyond the advertised limits, so you are on
your own.  Bob's program and docs should take the same attitude,
having a full low=0.495; high=1309.995 enforcer in place where the
user must click to enter irresponsible mode...  several ranges of
irresponsibility could be: allow going beyond published
high/low. allow invalid steps [that just get rounded to where they fit
in the 000000 address space].

Bob reports success going beyond the high end... wonder just how far
one can go though... pleanty of NDB's to try on the low end.  I bet it
withers out near the end of the address space... I mean one shouldn't
just say "It permits expanded .005 - 1599.995 MHz frequency coverage"
as, um, Bob's page says.
