Thanks for your reply Mark. I have a standard e Machine 667Mhz, 128Mb RAM, 12Gb free HDD. Printer is HP Officejet v45 USB (different printers make no difference to problem.) Modem on Com3, No conflicts reported. No other problems at all. Serial port not normally used but tried a digital camera on it and it worked fine. (completely removed camera software afterwards). COM 1 9600 baud rate, st bits 8 stop bits1, parity none IRQ 4 Also trid hyperterminal but although it checks out my modem ok there is no response with the opc connected/ PC freezes until connector is removed again from the port. Bought a chip and made my own circuit (found on site somewhere) used a seperate DC power scource, stlii no joy as yet. The radio when connected and set to "clone" does output if squelch is pressed but software freezes up even without the radio in situ. regards david j ------------------------ Yahoo!
